Create Backup Device

A backup device is used to logically organize your backups in SQL Server 2005. Backup devices greatly assist with SQL Server 2005 Backup and Recovery Management. Using the SQL Server Management Studio Object Browser interface, this exercise shows you how to create a backup device. The exercise is also provided using T-SQL. Both the T-SQL example and the GUI example are also available in video format from this page.
